Crib star

Sometimes when playing games you need skill and sometimes lady fortune smiles upon you.

Last night in a highly competitive crib match against The Live and Let Live at Whitbourne we needed about 25 points to win and our opponents needed 6.  We did the pegging and they still needed a few but it was my first down.

I was still trying to count my hand as I held a four, a five and two sixes. When I first turned them over I thought - "that's a lot"... but then the turn up was a four as well .... so that was eight for 15s, twelve for runs and four for pairs = a total of 24.   And a win for me and my partner.

I've played crib for nearly 30 years and never scored higher from a single hand.

You can only play the cards you are dealt - it's perhaps a metaphor for life.

I concede last night was a teeny weeny bit lucky.
