I've just read an article about how the knowledge of the offside rule in soccer defines your status in the game. Or certainly your competence to comment.
I've never really played soccer because I was introduced to rugby at the age of 10 and took to it like a duck to water.
In rugby the rule on offside is clear and simple "if it's too good to be true - you are offside".
With Andy Gray being fired for being offside about offside I can report that I received a cold call today from an Indian sounding person who wanted to establish before proceeding further that he was "speaking with the man of the house".
I assured him that I was the man in the house - but if he wanted an executive decision he may well have to speak with my wife. We left it there.
